Antiquarian Collection
A collection of Antiquarian Books on accountancy from 1494 to 1930 is maintained by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland
(ICAS) and is held on deposit in the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh. Access to the collection is permitted in accordance with the rules of the National Library.

The ICAS Antiquarian Collection is one of the very finest collections of rare books on bookkeeping and accountancy in the world. The foundation of the collection was due to the efforts of Richard Brown (1856-1918), CA, a past President of ICAS who began buying in the 1890s and steadily built up the collection until 1918. In succeeding years additions to the library were made mostly by donations until, in 1962, purchasing for the collection recommenced. Some books were also added from the Institute's libraries in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. The collection at present consists of over 1,000 works ranging in date from 1494 to 1930. The collection was deposited with the National Library of Scotland on long-term loan in 1983.

Records Archive
The records of the Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen Societies, which together formed the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), are held on deposit in the National Archives of Scotland. Access to these records, with the prior permission of ICAS, is permitted in accordance with the rules of the Scottish Records Office, National Archives of Scotland.
